What this part is
On this Kindle Fire HD 8 the charging port is soldered directly to the main board. When it wears loose, breaks off or the pins bend, the tablet stops charging and cannot be fixed by swapping a flex cable.
This is the bare connector. The old port has to be removed with hot air or a soldering iron and the new one soldered in place. It is a small, low-cost part, but the repair needs micro-soldering skill and equipment.

How to check your model
Open Settings › Device Options › Device Model. It should show your Fire HD 8 model.
Check the model code SX034Q on the tablet or in Amazon's device details before ordering. Other Fire HD 8 generations use a different port.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the Amazon Fire HD 8 off completely.
- Release the back cover clips with a plastic opening tool, working slowly around the edge.
- Disconnect the battery before touching any other part.
- Remove the screws and lift out the main board.
- Remove the old port with hot air, clean the pads and solder the new connector in place.
- Refit any shields, screws and the back cover.
- Refit the board, reconnect the battery and test charging with a known good cable.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
