The iPad mini 4 charges through a Lightning port on a flex cable at the bottom of the tablet. When the port wears, the cable feels loose, charging becomes unreliable and the iPad may not connect to a computer.
This flex comes with the Lightning port fitted. The iPad mini 4 has a fully laminated screen that is thin and easy to crack, so opening it carefully is the most important part of the repair.

How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About. The model name should read iPad mini 4. Tap the model number to see the A-number (for example A1538).
The iPad mini 4 and iPad mini 5 look alike. The mini 5 supports Apple Pencil (1st generation); the mini 4 does not.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the iPad mini 4 off and warm the screen edges to soften the adhesive.
- Lift the screen slowly with thin opening picks, avoiding the display cables, and disconnect the battery first.
- Remove the screws and brackets over the charging flex and ease the old flex out.
- Fit the new flex in the same position and seat its connector firmly.
- Reconnect the battery and screen and test the repair before sealing.
- Apply new adhesive, close the iPad and press evenly while it cures.
- Test charging, USB data and the speakers.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
