What this part is
The Google Pixel 8a plays sound from two speakers. The top speaker, above the screen, carries the caller's voice when the phone is at your ear, and works with the bottom speaker for stereo sound. Water, dust and drops can leave it quiet, distorted or silent.
This is the top speaker unit only, not the bottom loudspeaker. Fitting it means opening the phone from the screen side. Clean the speaker grille first and check that the sound settings and Bluetooth are not the cause.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone. The device name should read Pixel 8a, not Pixel 8. The model code (GKV4X, G6GPR, G8HHN) is shown in Settings › About phone › Regulatory labels and on the box.
The Pixel 8a has a 6.1-inch screen and two rear cameras. The Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch screen and a different internal layout.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the Pixel 8a off and remove the SIM tray.
- Warm the screen edges and open the phone carefully from the display side.
- Disconnect the battery before touching any other part.
- Remove the parts covering the old top speaker and lift it out.
- Fit the new top speaker, making sure any gaskets and contacts sit correctly.
- Reassemble with new adhesive and test sound, calls and media at full volume.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
