The earpiece speaker in the Google Pixel Fold is a small sealed unit that plays the other person's voice during normal calls. Dust, moisture or a drop can leave it quiet, distorted or silent, while speakerphone still works.
If calls are fine on speakerphone or Bluetooth but not at your ear, the earpiece is the usual cause. Fitting it means opening the Google Pixel Fold, which is a folding phone with a tight, glued build, so this is a job for an experienced technician.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone. The model name should read Pixel Fold, not Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The model code is also shown there and on the phone's box.
The Pixel Fold is Google's first folding phone, released in 2023. The later Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a different body and different parts.

How a technician fits this part
- Power the Google Pixel Fold off and remove the SIM tray.
- Warm the panel edges and open the phone carefully with thin tools.
- Disconnect the battery before touching any other part.
- Remove the old earpiece speaker and clean the mesh and seat.
- Fit the new earpiece and test call audio before closing.
- Reseal with fresh adhesive and make a final test call.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
