Overview
What this part is
On the iPad 10.2-inch 7th and 8th generation, the touch glass and the LCD underneath are separate parts. If the glass is cracked but the picture is still clear, you only need to replace the glass.
This glass comes with a home button already fitted. Touch ID is paired to the iPad's own button, so a new button works as a Home button but not for fingerprints. To keep Touch ID, a technician moves your existing button across to the new glass.

- The home button area of the glass is cracked
How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About and tap Model Number until it shows an A-number. It should be A2197, A2198, A2270 or A2428. The A-number is also printed on the back of the iPad.
These iPads have a 10.2-inch screen and a round home button below the display.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the iPad off and warm the edges of the cracked glass to soften the adhesive.
- Lift the glass in small steps, taking care not to press on the LCD.
- Disconnect the battery, then the old digitiser cable.
- If you want to keep Touch ID, move your existing home button onto the new glass.
- Connect the new glass and test touch and the home button before sealing.
- Apply new adhesive strips, press the glass down evenly and run a final check.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Will this fit my iPad?
Yes, if your iPad is the 10.2-inch 7th or 8th generation, model A2197, A2198, A2270 or A2428.
Does it fit the iPad Air 3 10.5-inch?
No. The iPad Air 3 has a different size and its screen is bonded to the LCD as one unit.
Will Touch ID work with the new home button?
No. Touch ID is paired to your iPad's own button. The new button works for Home only. Move your existing button across to keep Touch ID.
Is it made by Apple?
No. It is a brand new, OEM-quality touch digitiser with home button made to fit the iPad 10.2-inch 7th and 8th generation, and it is tested before dispatch.
Should I fit it myself?
We recommend professional installation. Removing cracked glass needs heat and care, and moving the home button is fiddly work.
How quickly will it arrive?
Orders placed before 4pm on a working day are dispatched the same day from Manchester by Royal Mail Tracked. Delivery is free on UK orders from £5.
