What this part is
The iPad 5th generation has separate touch glass and LCD. If your touch still works but the picture has lines, dark marks or no image, you only need a new LCD.
This panel is the LCD only. The front glass must be lifted and refitted over it. The glass on this model is thin and cracks easily, so many repairers change glass and LCD together when the glass is already weak.

How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About and tap Model Number until it shows an A-number. It should read A1822 or A1823. The A-number is also on the back.
The iPad 5th Gen has a 9.7-inch screen, a home button and a Lightning port. The 6th Gen looks the same but is A1893 or A1954.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the iPad off and warm the edges of the glass to soften the adhesive.
- Lift the touch glass carefully, keeping its flex cables safe, and disconnect the battery.
- Unscrew and disconnect the damaged LCD, then connect the new LCD and the touch glass.
- Power on and test the picture, brightness and touch before sealing.
- Clean the frame, apply new adhesive and press the glass down evenly.
- Final check: display, touch, home button, cameras, speakers and charging.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.

We list a separate LCD for the 6th Gen (A1893 / A1954). Please order that one for a 6th Gen iPad.
Will I need new touch glass too?
Only if your glass is cracked or touch fails. The glass on this model is thin, so it often breaks during removal. Ordering one as a spare can save a second wait.
Is it made by Apple?
