At the top of the iPhone 11 Pro Max, the earpiece speaker, a microphone and the proximity sensor are linked on one flex assembly. The proximity sensor tells the phone to switch the screen off when it is at your ear. When this area is damaged, callers may sound quiet, your voice may sound muffled on video or speakerphone, or your cheek may press buttons during calls.
This part replaces the speaker and the flex together. On the iPhone 11 Pro Max, some parts in this area work with the Face ID system, so we cannot confirm Face ID will work after fitting. A technician should test Face ID before and after the repair.

How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About. The Model Name should read iPhone 11 Pro Max. Tap the Model Number to see the A-number (A2218, A2161, A2220).

- Power the phone off, warm the screen edges and open the display.
- Disconnect the battery, then the display cables.
- Remove the earpiece bracket and lift out the old speaker and flex, taking care of nearby Face ID parts.
- Fit the new assembly in the same position and refit the bracket.
- Reconnect and test calls, the microphone, the proximity sensor and Face ID.
- Reseal the display with new adhesive and press it evenly.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
