Overview
What this part is
The Taptic Engine gives the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro their vibration and haptic taps: silent-mode alerts, keyboard clicks and long-press feedback. A drop or liquid damage can leave it silent, weak or rattling inside the case.
The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are the same size inside and use the same motor, so one part covers both. Check Settings › Sounds & Haptics first, because vibration can be turned off in software.

Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Confirm vibration is switched on in Settings, then power the phone off.
- Remove the bottom pentalobe screws, warm the screen edges and open the display.
- Disconnect the battery before working near the motor.
- Unscrew and disconnect the old Taptic Engine and lift it out.
- Fit the new motor, reconnect the battery and test vibration before sealing.
- Apply new screen adhesive, close the phone and press the edges evenly.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Will this fit my iPhone 12 or 12 Pro?
Yes. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro share this Taptic Engine. Check Settings › General › About for the Model Name.
Does it fit the iPhone 12 Mini or 12 Pro Max?
No. The iPhone 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max are different sizes and use different motors.
How do I know the motor is at fault?
Turn on vibration in Settings › Sounds & Haptics and in Settings › Accessibility › Touch. If the phone still does not vibrate, or it rattles, the motor is the likely fault.
Is it made by Apple?
No. It is a brand new, OEM-quality vibrating motor made to fit the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro, and every part is tested before dispatch.
Should I fit it myself?
We recommend professional installation. The phone is opened from the screen side with heat, and the battery must be disconnected first.
How quickly will it arrive?
Orders placed before 4pm on a working day are dispatched the same day from Manchester by Royal Mail Tracked. Delivery is free on UK orders from £5. Returns are accepted within 30 days of receipt.
