What this part is
At the top of the iPhone 12 Mini, behind the screen, the earpiece speaker sits on a flex cable that also carries the proximity sensor. The speaker plays the other person's voice when you hold the phone to your ear. The proximity sensor turns the screen off during calls so your cheek does not press buttons.
This part is the combined assembly: earpiece speaker and sensor flex together. If only the call audio is weak and the screen dims normally in calls, the standalone earpiece speaker may be all you need. Face ID faults are not fixed by this part.

How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About. The Model Name should read iPhone 12 Mini. Tap the Model Number to show the A-number, which should be one of A2399, A2176, A2398 or A2400.
The iPhone 12 Mini has a 5.4-inch OLED screen and two rear cameras. The iPhone 12 is larger, with a 6.1-inch screen.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the phone off, remove the bottom pentalobe screws and warm the screen edges.
- Open the display carefully and disconnect the battery.
- Remove the screen and take off the bracket over the earpiece at the top.
- Lift out the old earpiece and sensor flex, taking care of the nearby Face ID parts.
- Fit the new assembly, refit the screen and test calls and the proximity sensor.
- Apply new screen adhesive, close the phone and press evenly around the edges.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.

Does it fit the iPhone 12?
No. The iPhone 12 Mini is smaller inside and uses its own earpiece assembly. It does not fit the iPhone 12, 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max.
What is the difference between this and the earpiece speaker only?
This assembly includes the sensor flex cable as well as the speaker, so it also fixes a proximity sensor that does not turn the screen off in calls. The standalone earpiece is the speaker only.
