Overview
What this part is
The Taptic Engine in the iPhone 12 Pro Max is a small, strong motor near the bottom of the phone. It handles vibration for calls and alerts and the gentle taps you feel when typing or pressing and holding. Knocks and liquid can make it silent, weak or noisy.
This part replaces the motor itself. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is larger inside than the 12 and 12 Pro, so it uses its own motor. Check Settings › Sounds & Haptics first in case vibration has been turned off.

Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Check vibration is enabled in Settings, then power the phone off.
- Remove the bottom pentalobe screws, warm the screen edges and open the display.
- Disconnect the battery before working near the motor.
- Unscrew and disconnect the old Taptic Engine and lift it out.
- Fit the new motor, reconnect the battery and test vibration and keyboard taps.
- Apply new screen adhesive, close the phone and press evenly around the edges.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Will this fit my iPhone 12 Pro Max?
Yes, if Settings › General › About shows iPhone 12 Pro Max. It fits models A2411, A2342, A2410 and A2412.
Does it fit the iPhone 12 Pro?
No. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro share a different motor, which we list separately. This one is for the iPhone 12 Pro Max only.
Could a software setting stop vibration?
Yes. Check Settings › Sounds & Haptics and Settings › Accessibility › Touch › Vibration. If both are on and the phone still does not vibrate, the motor is the likely fault.
Is it made by Apple?
No. It is a brand new, OEM-quality vibrating motor made to fit the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and every part is tested before dispatch.
Should I fit it myself?
We recommend professional installation. The screen must be opened with heat and resealed, and the battery must be disconnected before the motor is removed.
How quickly will it arrive?
Orders placed before 4pm on a working day are dispatched the same day from Manchester by Royal Mail Tracked. Delivery is free on UK orders from £5. Returns are accepted within 30 days of receipt.
