On the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the earpiece speaker is the small speaker behind the slot at the top of the screen. If it fails, callers sound faint, crackly or cannot be heard at all, even though speakerphone works.
This is the earpiece speaker module on its own. It sits behind the display, so the screen must be opened. A blocked grille can also cause quiet calls, so brush it gently with a soft, dry brush before ordering.

How to check your model

How a technician fits this part
- Power the iPhone 17 Pro Max off and warm the edges of the screen.
- Lift the display with a suction cup and pick, working slowly around the frame.
- Disconnect the battery first, then remove the bracket over the earpiece.
- Swap the old earpiece for the new module and refit the bracket and screws.
- Reconnect the display and make a test call before sealing.
- Seal the screen with new adhesive and check Face ID and auto-dimming.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
