What this part is
The iPhone 12 Mini front camera sits in the notch at the top of the screen, next to the earpiece and the Face ID parts. It takes selfies and handles FaceTime and video calls. A drop or liquid damage can leave it blurred, dark, spotted or showing a black screen.
This part replaces the front camera module and its flex cable. It is not the Face ID module, which stays in the phone. If the rear cameras also fail, the fault may be on the logic board rather than the camera. iOS may show a parts notice in Settings › General › About after the camera is replaced.

How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About. The Model Name should read iPhone 12 Mini. Tap the Model Number to show the A-number, which should be one of A2399, A2176, A2398 or A2400.
The iPhone 12 Mini has a 5.4-inch OLED screen and two rear cameras. The iPhone 12 is larger, with a 6.1-inch screen.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the phone off, remove the bottom pentalobe screws and warm the screen edges.
- Open the display and disconnect the battery before anything else.
- Remove the screen and the bracket over the top sensors.
- Disconnect and lift out the old front camera, leaving the Face ID parts in place.
- Fit the new camera, reconnect everything and test selfies and FaceTime video.
- Apply new screen adhesive, close the phone and press evenly around the edges.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
