At the top of the iPhone XR, the earpiece speaker plays the caller's voice and the proximity sensor turns the screen off when the phone is at your ear. Damage here can make calls hard to hear, or let your cheek tap the screen and end calls.
This part combines the earpiece speaker and sensor flex in one assembly. It sits behind the display, so the screen must be opened. It is a good choice when the old flex was torn in an earlier screen repair.

How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About. The Model Name should read iPhone XR. Tap the Model Number once to see the A-number (A1984, A2105, A2106, A2107, A2108).
The iPhone XR has a 6.1-inch LCD screen, Face ID, a single rear camera and a Lightning port. The iPhone 11 is a similar size but has two rear cameras.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the iPhone XR off, remove the two bottom screws and warm the screen edges.
- Open the display and disconnect the battery first.
- Remove the top bracket and lift out the old earpiece and sensor flex.
- Fit the new assembly, press the connector home and refit the bracket.
- Reconnect the display, then test calls and auto-dimming.
- Seal the display with new adhesive and check Face ID.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
