What this part is
The front camera on the iPhone XR sits in the notch at the top of the screen, beside the earpiece and Face ID parts. A drop or liquid can leave selfies blurry or dark, or make the front camera show black.
This is the front camera module with its flex cable. It sits behind the display, so the screen must be opened. Face ID uses separate parts, so this camera will not fix Face ID faults.

How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About. The Model Name should read iPhone XR. Tap the Model Number once to see the A-number (A1984, A2105, A2106, A2107, A2108).
The iPhone XR has a 6.1-inch LCD screen, Face ID, a single rear camera and a Lightning port. The iPhone 11 is a similar size but has two rear cameras.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the iPhone XR off, remove the two bottom screws and warm the screen edges.
- Open the display and disconnect the battery first.
- Remove the bracket over the front camera and unclip its connector.
- Fit the new front camera and press the connector home firmly.
- Refit the bracket, reconnect the display and test selfies and FaceTime.
- Seal the display and check Face ID and the earpiece still work.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
