What this part is
The SIM card reader is the socket inside the iPhone XR that makes contact with your SIM card. Bent, dirty or broken pins can cause 'No SIM', lost signal, or a SIM that only works when the tray is pressed.
This is the reader socket only, not the SIM tray. It sits on the logic board, so fitting is board-level work. Before ordering, test with another SIM and make sure the tray is straight and fully closed.

How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About. The Model Name should read iPhone XR. Tap the Model Number once to see the A-number (A1984, A2105, A2106, A2107, A2108).
The iPhone XR has a 6.1-inch LCD screen, Face ID, a single rear camera and a Lightning port. The iPhone 11 is a similar size but has two rear cameras.

- Take out the logic board carefully.
- Remove the old SIM reader with the correct heat and flux.
- Clean the pads and fit the new reader, checking it sits square.
- Refit the board, reconnect the battery and test with a SIM card.
- Check signal, calls and mobile data before sealing the phone.
