What this part is
The side buttons on the Nokia 4.2 press against small switches on a thin flex cable inside the phone. Wear, drops or moisture can break a switch or crack the cable, so the phone will not wake, turn off or change the volume.
This flex carries both the power switch and the volume switches, so one part fixes all side button faults caused by the cable. It does not include the outer button caps. If a button cap is missing or broken, that needs to be replaced separately.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone. The model should read Nokia 4.2 and the model number (TA-) should be one of TA-1184, TA-1133, TA-1149, TA-1150 and TA-1157. The model number is also printed on the box label.
The Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 have similar names but use different parts. Check the model before ordering.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the Nokia 4.2 off (use the settings menu or let the battery run down if the power button has failed) and remove the SIM tray.
- Open the phone using the correct method for this model, with plastic tools and gentle heat where adhesive is used.
- Disconnect the battery connector before touching any other part.
- Peel the old button flex away from the frame and unplug it.
- Line the new flex up with the button caps, press it into place and plug it in.
- Close the phone, reconnect power and test the power, volume up and volume down buttons.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
