The OnePlus 5 side buttons press on small switches mounted on a thin flex cable. After a drop or water damage, a switch can stop clicking, respond only when pressed hard, or trigger on its own.
The supplier lists it as a volume button flex cable plus a power button flex cable, so both sides are covered. If the outer button cap is missing or cracked but the click still works, you may only need the button cap. Restarting the phone first can rule out a software fault.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone and check the model name reads OnePlus 5, not OnePlus 5T. The model number (A5000) is shown in the same menu and on the box. Compare your old part with the photos before fitting.

- Power the OnePlus 5 off and open the back carefully.
- Disconnect the battery before removing any other parts.
- Remove the parts covering the flex and unclip the old cable from the frame.
- Fit the new flex so each switch lines up behind its button, then reconnect it.
- Reconnect the battery and test every button before closing.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.

If the button cap is in place but has no click or does nothing when pressed, the switch on the flex is usually at fault. If the cap is cracked or missing, the cap is the part to replace.
