What this part is
The Galaxy A42 5G has a large 6.6-inch screen. Its glass, touch layer and display are one bonded part, so a crack, a black picture, lines or dead touch mean the whole assembly needs replacing.
This version has no frame. The old screen must be carefully heated and lifted off the existing frame, which is then cleaned and fitted with new adhesive. It uses an LCD panel. The A42 5G fingerprint sensor sits under the display and is designed for AMOLED, so it usually will not work with an LCD. Face recognition, PIN and pattern unlock still work.

Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the phone off, remove the SIM tray and open the phone following a repair guide for your model.
- Disconnect the battery before unplugging the screen connector.
- Warm the screen edges and lift the old display away from the frame, feeding its flex cable through.
- Clean off all old adhesive and apply a new adhesive sheet to the frame.
- Feed the new screen flex through, connect it and test display and touch before pressing it into place.
- Close the phone and run a final check: display, touch, calls, speakers, cameras and charging.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
