The power and volume buttons on the Galaxy A04e press against small switches on a thin flex cable inside the frame. The keys sit on the right-hand side of the phone. Over time the switches wear out, or the flex tears or corrodes after a drop or liquid damage, and the power and volume buttons stop working.
This flex is listed for model SM-A042F. The model number is in Settings › About phone and on the box. Before ordering, check that the outer keys are not jammed or missing, as this part replaces the internal flex only.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone and check the model name reads Galaxy A04e, not Galaxy A04 or Galaxy A04s. The model number is shown there too and starts SM-. Compare your old part with the photos before fitting.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the phone off and remove the SIM tray.
- Warm the back cover edges and lift it off carefully.
- Remove the screws and inner cover, then disconnect the battery before anything else.
- Unclip the old power and volume buttons flex from the side of the frame and unplug it.
- Fit the new flex in the same position, reconnect it and the battery, and test every button before closing.
- Refit the inner cover and screws, then refit the back cover with new adhesive if needed.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
