How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone. The model name should read Galaxy A5 (2017) and the model number should start SM-A520F. It must not be the Galaxy A5 (2016) or Galaxy A7 (2017).

- Power the phone off and warm the back glass edges to soften the adhesive.
- Lift the back glass off carefully and disconnect the battery before anything else.
- Remove the part carrying the charging port and clean the area.
- De-solder the old connector with hot air or a soldering iron and flux.
- Solder the new USB-C connector in place and check every pin for bridges.
- Refit, reconnect the battery and test charging and USB data before closing.
