The charging port on the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) is fitted to a small board, so the whole board is replaced rather than the socket alone. Repeated plugging in, pocket lint and liquid can wear the socket until the cable feels loose, charging only works at an angle, or the device stops charging.
Before buying, try a different cable and charger, and gently clear any lint from the port with a wooden or plastic pick. If it still will not charge, this board is the usual fix. Some suppliers call this part the signal small board. Compare the shape and connectors with your old board before fitting.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About tablet. The model name should read Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019), and the model number should be SM-T290 or SM-T295. The model number is also printed on the back of the tablet.
The 2019 Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is SM-T290 (Wi-Fi) or SM-T295 (LTE). The Tab A 8.0 with S Pen (SM-P200/P205) is a different tablet.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the tablet off, warm the screen edges and lift the display carefully.
- Disconnect the battery before anything else.
- Remove the screws and any parts covering the charging port board.
- Unplug the board's flex connectors and lift out the old board.
- Fit the new board, reconnect all flex cables and reconnect the battery.
- Test charging and data before closing, then refit the screen with new adhesive and press evenly while it cures.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.

Yes, if Settings › About tablet shows Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) and the model number is SM-T290 or SM-T295. It does not fit the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) or Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with S Pen.
Does it fit the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite?
No. The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite uses a different charging port board. This part is made only for the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019).
Could the battery be the problem instead?
It can be. If the device charges normally with a firm cable but drains quickly, the battery is the likely cause. If the cable is loose, only works at an angle, or nothing happens at all, the charging port board is more likely.
