What this part is
The earpiece (also called the ear speaker or receiver) sits behind the slot at the top edge of the Galaxy S23+'s screen. When it fails, you hear the other person faintly, with crackling, or not at all, even though speakerphone still works.
This earpiece speaker replaces the worn or damaged unit. Before ordering, try cleaning the grille gently with a soft dry brush, as a blocked mesh can cause the same symptoms. If speakerphone is also silent, the fault is more likely software or the main board.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone. The name should read Galaxy S23+, and the model number should start SM-S916B (a /DS ending just means dual SIM). The model number is also on the box.
The Galaxy S23+ has a 6.6-inch screen. The standard S23 is smaller at 6.1 inches, and the S23 Ultra has a built-in S Pen.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Back up the phone and power it off.
- Warm the back glass and lift it carefully with a thin pick.
- Remove the screws and the top cover plate, then disconnect the battery.
- Lift out the old earpiece speaker and seat the new one in the same position.
- Reconnect the battery and make a test call before you close the phone.
- Refit the cover plate, apply new adhesive and press the back glass down evenly.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.

My speakerphone works but calls are quiet. Is this the right part?
Usually, yes. Speakerphone uses the bottom loudspeaker, so a quiet earpiece on its own points to the top speaker. Clean the grille first, as a blocked mesh can cause the same fault.
