The power button on the Sony Xperia XZ Premium presses a switch on a flex cable inside the right-hand side of the phone. A drop, liquid or heavy use can damage the switch or the cable, and the button stops responding.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone. The model should read Xperia XZ Premium, and the model number should be G8141 or G8142. Compare your old flex with the photos of Type A and Type B before ordering.
The Xperia XZ Premium has a 5.5-inch 4K screen and a mirror-like glass back. The Xperia XZ and XZs have a 5.2-inch screen.

How a technician fits this part
- Power the phone off and remove the SIM and card tray.
- Warm the glass back and lift it off carefully.
- Disconnect the battery first.
- Unplug the power button flex and ease it away from the frame.
- Fit the new flex, lined up behind the button, and reconnect it.
- Reconnect the battery, test the button and reseal the back with new adhesive.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
