The loudspeaker in the Sony Xperia XZ2 sits at the bottom of the phone and plays ringtones, alerts, media and hands-free calls. Water, dust and loud use can damage the speaker cone, so the sound becomes quiet, distorted or stops.
Before replacing it, check the volume, turn off Do Not Disturb and clean the speaker grille gently. If there is still no sound from the speaker but headphones or Bluetooth work, the speaker is the likely fault. The earpiece used for normal calls is a separate part.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone. The model should read Xperia XZ2, and the model number should be H8216, H8266 or H8296. Compare your old part with the photos before fitting.
The Xperia XZ2 has a 5.7-inch screen. The XZ2 Compact is smaller and the XZ2 Premium has two rear cameras.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the phone off and remove the SIM tray.
- Warm the back cover to soften the adhesive and lift it off carefully.
- Disconnect the battery before touching any other part.
- Remove the screws and cover over the bottom of the phone, then lift out the old speaker.
- Fit the new speaker in the same position and refit the cover and screws.
- Reconnect the battery, test the speaker, then refit the back cover with new adhesive.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.

Restart the phone and play a video at full volume. If headphones or Bluetooth work but the speaker is silent or crackles, the speaker is the likely fault.

Should I fit it myself?
