Overview
What this part is
The Sony Xperia Z3 has two ways to charge: the covered micro-USB port and a set of magnetic charging contacts on the side of the phone. The magnetic contacts are used with a Sony magnetic charging dock or magnetic charging cable, so you can charge without opening the port cover.
This flex cable carries those magnetic contacts. If the phone charges through micro-USB but not on the dock, dirty, corroded or damaged contacts are the usual cause. Clean the contacts gently first. If dock charging still fails, this flex is the part to replace. It does not replace the micro-USB port, and it does not carry data to a computer.

Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the device off and remove the SIM tray.
- Warm the back cover to soften the adhesive and lift it off carefully.
- Disconnect the battery before touching any other connector.
- Remove the screws and covers over the charging flex.
- Unplug the old part, lift it out and fit the new one in the same place.
- Reconnect the battery, test charging on the magnetic dock, then close the device with new adhesive.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Will this fit my Xperia Z3?
Yes, if Settings › About phone shows Xperia Z3 (models D6603, D6633 and D6653). It does not fit the Xperia Z3 Compact, Z3+ or Z2.
Does it fit the Xperia Z3 Compact?
No. The Xperia Z3 Compact is a different phone with a different internal layout. This part is for the Xperia Z3 only.
Does this replace the micro-USB port?
No. This flex carries the magnetic charging contacts on the side of the phone, used with a magnetic dock or cable. The micro-USB port is a separate part.
Is it made by Sony?
No. It is a brand new, OEM-quality magnetic charging port flex cable made to fit the Sony Xperia Z3, and it is tested before dispatch.
Should I fit it myself?
We recommend professional installation. The back cover is glued on and needs heat to remove, and the battery must be disconnected first.
