On the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, the charging socket sits on a flex cable at the bottom of the device. Daily plugging in, fluff and moisture wear the socket, so it may stop charging or lose the connection when the cable moves.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone. The model should read Xperia Z5 Premium, and the model number should be E6853, E6833 or E6883. Compare your old part with the photos before fitting.
The Xperia Z5 Premium has a 5.5-inch 4K screen. The standard Z5 is smaller, with a 5.2-inch screen.

How a technician fits this part
- Power the device off and remove the SIM tray.
- Warm the back cover to soften the adhesive and lift it off carefully.
- Disconnect the battery before touching any other connector.
- Remove the screws and covers over the charging flex.
- Unplug the old part, lift it out and fit the new one in the same place.
- Reconnect the battery, test charging and data, then close the device with new adhesive.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.

Yes. Fluff in the socket often stops the plug going fully in. Clean it gently with a wooden or plastic pick, never metal, and try another cable. If charging is still faulty, the part needs replacing.
