What this part is
The 2013 Kindle Fire HD 7 charges through a micro-USB port on a flex cable inside the tablet. Tablets are often used while charging, so the port takes a lot of strain and can work loose or stop charging.
This flex has the port already fitted, so no soldering is needed. The old flex is unplugged from the main board and the new one fitted in its place. Amazon sold several Fire HD 7 and Fire 7 generations, and their charging parts are not the same, so check your model first.

How to check your model
Open Settings › Device Options › Device Model. It should show Kindle Fire HD (3rd Generation).
The 2013 Kindle Fire HD has a 7-inch screen. Later Fire HD 7 and Fire 7 tablets use different parts.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the Amazon Fire HD 7 (2013) off completely.
- Release the back cover clips with a plastic opening tool, working slowly around the edge.
- Disconnect the battery before touching any other part.
- Unplug the old charging port flex from the main board and lift it out.
- Fit the new flex and press its connector firmly home.
- Refit any shields, screws and the back cover.
- Reconnect the battery, power on and test charging with a known good cable.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
