What this part is
The 2018 iPad 9.7-inch has its Lightning port on a flex cable along the bottom edge. It is one of the most common iPad repairs, because the port wears with daily charging and fills with lint.
This flex comes with the port fitted. The screen has to come off to reach it. Always clean the port and test with a known good cable first, as dirt in the port gives the same symptoms as a worn flex.

How to check your model
Open Settings › General › About. The model name should read iPad (6th generation). Tap the model number to see the A-number (for example A1893).
The 2018 iPad has a 9.7-inch screen and supports Apple Pencil (1st generation). The 2019 iPad is larger at 10.2 inches.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the iPad off and warm the screen edges to soften the adhesive.
- Lift the screen slowly with thin opening picks, avoiding the display cables, and disconnect the battery first.
- Remove the screws and brackets over the charging flex and ease the old flex away from its adhesive.
- Fit the new flex in the same position and seat its connector firmly.
- Reconnect the battery and screen and test the repair before sealing.
- Apply new adhesive, close the iPad and press evenly while it cures.
- Test charging, USB data and the speakers.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
