What this part is
The Google Pixel 5 has no visible earpiece grille at the top of the screen. Instead, call audio is produced by a speaker unit under the display. Drops, moisture and pressure on the screen can damage it, and call audio becomes quiet, crackly or stops completely.
This is the earpiece speaker unit only. If the caller can hear you but you cannot hear them, while speakerphone works, the earpiece speaker is usually the cause.

How to check your model
Open Settings › About phone. The device name should read Pixel 5, not Pixel 4a 5G. The model code (GD1YQ or GTT9Q) is shown in Settings › About phone › Regulatory labels.
The Pixel 5 has a 6.0-inch screen. The Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5a look similar but are different phones.
Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the Pixel 5 off and remove the SIM tray.
- Warm the screen edges and open the display carefully with a thin opening tool.
- Disconnect the battery before touching any other part.
- Remove the top covers and lift out the old speaker.
- Fit the new speaker, making sure the contacts and any gasket sit correctly.
- Reconnect the battery and test calls, ringtone and speakerphone before closing.
- Reseal the screen with new adhesive and press evenly while it cures.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.

Frequently asked questions
Will this fit my Pixel 5?
Yes, if Settings › About phone shows Pixel 5. It fits models GD1YQ and GTT9Q. It does not fit the Pixel 4a 5G.
Does it fit the Pixel 4a 5G?
No. The Pixel 4a 5G is a different phone and needs its own speaker. This part is for the Pixel 5 only.
Why can I hear on speakerphone but not in calls?
Speakerphone uses the loudspeaker. Normal calls use the earpiece at the top. If only normal calls are quiet or silent, the earpiece speaker is usually the fault.
Is it made by Google?
No. It is a brand new, OEM-quality earpiece speaker made to fit the Google Pixel 5, and every part is tested before dispatch.
Should I fit it myself?
We recommend professional installation. The Pixel 5 opens from the screen side, which needs heat, the right tools and new adhesive, and the battery must be disconnected safely.
