What this part is
On the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro the micro-USB charging socket is mounted on a small sub-board at the bottom of the phone, connected to the main board by a flex cable. Years of plugging in, pocket fluff and moisture wear the socket out, so the phone charges only at an angle, drops the connection or stops charging altogether.
Before replacing it, check the cable and charger with another phone and gently clear any lint from the socket with a wooden toothpick. If the fault stays, a new charging port board is the usual fix.

Professional installation
How a technician fits this part
- Power the phone off and remove the SIM tray.
- Open the back cover carefully with a thin pick and remove the screws holding the lower cover.
- Disconnect the battery, then the main flex and antenna cables from the old board.
- Move the loudspeaker or any parts that sit on the board, then fit the new board in the same position.
- Reconnect the battery and test charging and USB connection before closing.
- Refit the covers and screws, and press the back cover on evenly.
Check that the part matches the device before fitting it or removing any adhesive backing. Once a part has been fitted, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Faulty parts are always covered.
